A robust method to handle outliers in a distributed environment using diffusion strategy is proposed. The proposed method uses rank based Wilcoxon norm in a QR based RLS method.

Why is it important?

Traditional diffusion methods fail to perform for the environment containing outliers. A robust method is formulated to handle outliers in a distributed environment. The proposed method uses rank based Wilcoxon norm in a QR based RLS method, where with every new information the parameters are updated using BHT. The QR based proposed method is faster in convergence compared to Wilcoxon based diffusion LMS method.

Perspectives

This paper is important for it's proposed robust diffusion algorithm. The use of QR based RLS and rank based Wilcoxon norm are combined to formulate a overall diffusion algorithm to work efficiently in a distributed environment containing outliers.
