What is it about?
As to the large capacity surface acoustic wave(SAW) tag with pulse time delay and phase coding, in order to improve the reader’s measurement accuracy and stability of the time delay and phase of the echo pulse train, the overall design scheme of the reader based on radio-frequency band-pass sampling and digital quadrature demodulation is utilized. The high-speed data acquisition module is mainly designed in this paper, including the calculation and determination of the ADC sampling frequency, the design of ADC clock with cascaded PLL structure and the design of ADC driver circuit, etc.

Why is it important?
The SAW RFID system consists of the SAW tag and the corresponding reader. With the increase of the coding capacity, the reader is required to calculate the time delays and phases of the echo signal more accurately, the design of the high-speed data acquisition module is one of the key factors to improve the performance of the reader and the entire SAW RFID system. In this paper, we established the SAW RFID system utilizing the radio-frequency band-pass sampling and digital quadrature demodulation scheme, and the measurement results show the effectiveness of the high-speed data acquisition module of the reader.
