Why is it important?

As far end high resistance faults introduces less current deviations in faulty phases, exact faulty phase selection is a difficult task for many protective relay algorithms. Also, presence of series compensation in the line introduces issues during faulty phase selection.

Perspectives

A time domain based approach to select the exact fault type. The method is easily application in practical power system as the algorithm is simple and less time taking.
