What is it about?

This paper aims to examine the cooling method using a cold plate attached to the PV panel to lower its operating temperature. The experiment demonstrates a decrease in surface temperature and improves electrical, thermal and PV panel efficiency as compared to PV panel without a cooling system.

Why is it important?

The cold plate consists of several guided channels or ribbed walls to direct the circulating water flow from its entrance to the exit point at the back of the PV panel.

Perspectives

The water-based cooling system with a radiator combined with a lightweight cold plate with guided channels mounted onto the back of a PV panel, could reduce its surface temperature and improve the performance of the PV panel
