What is it about?

This paper estimates the solar PV yield (electrical energy generated per unit installed capacity) for the entire UK. The yield depends strongly on the distribution of installed solar PV plants across the country.

Why is it important?

The yield value allows direct conversion of total solar PV installed capacity (MWp) to electrical energy (kWh) The paper calculates that 3% of the UK's electricity demand will be supplied by solar PV in 2016. A reliable value of the yield is important when quantifying the environmental impact of electricity generation from different energy sources.
