What is it about?
The model predictive control is an attractive nonlinear control method and the finite control set MPC (FCS-MPC) can be applied in power electronic converters by its discrete nature. This paper proposes an improved discrete space vector (DSVM) MPC for Vienna rectifier with better input current performance.

Why is it important?
The normal FCS-MPC for PWM rectifiers applies single vector with variable switching frequency and the multi-vectors DSVM-MPC method can get large number of feasible vectors but with high calculation burden. The proposed improved discrete space vector (DSVM) MPC will select proper vectors adjacent the reference voltage vector to reduce the calculation burden. Then, the method has fixed switching frequency and better input current performance.
