What is it about?

A fault on a power device may result in an abnormal operation of the MLI which may even lead to the complete shutdown of the application regarding safety concerns. Thus, a fault tolerant MLI, under faulty conditions, avoids the shutdown and results in an uninterrupted output.

The key aspect in the work is the reduced number of switch count to incorporate fault tolerant characteristics in the main inverter.

Perspectives

Renewable energy sources needs power electronics interfacing for supplying the power. Since the power electronics devices are prone to faults, this paper proposes a novel fault tolerant topology of MLI which can work under single switch and multi-switch fault scenario.
