What is it about?
Leaky wave antennas can be an appropriate solution for millimeter-wave frequency range applications such as the emerging fifth-generation (5G) and Internet of Things (IoT), but are they actually practical? In this paper, we design and experimentally demonstrate for the first time, Dirac-dispersion-based mm-wave leaky wave antennas are suitable for emerging fifth-generation (5G) and IoT, radar and imaging.

Why is it important?
We first perform a theoretical analysis on the unit-cell of a simplified periodic structure using mode-matching to find and justify the existence and conditions for Dirac dispersion.
