What is it about?

The objective of this work is to address the issue of using the human hand as an antenna, the hantenna. The method used is based on an experiment involving a wireless link between a traditional antenna and the human hand functioning as an antenna. Measurements were performed over 6 subjects in an anechoic chamber. The results show very clear trends. In the frequency band 800 MHz – 2 GHz the human hand does improve the link performance, up to 15-20 dB, which is very considerable. The significance of the work is that it shows how to use the human hand as an antenna in certain non-critical telecom applications.
