What is it about?

Premilinary design approach for a wideband microstrip antenna operating at 28 GHz. This study has outlined the fundamental design principle for a stacked microstrip antenna from an element stage to a 7-element array. Obtaining a 1GHz operating bandwidth with microstrip technology at 28GHz is an outstanding research that proves 28GHz base station antennas are possibel at millimeter-wave frequencies.

Why is it important?

This was a preliminary work towards a planar array for 5G Base Station Antenna systems. Obtaining a 2.1 GHz impedance operating bandwidth with microstrip technology at 28GHz is an outstanding research. This work has proven that 28GHz base station antennas are possibel at millimeter-wave frequencies for wideband operation.
