What is it about?

By using periodic structures we can achieve a so-called electromagnetic bandgap effect, by which certain wavelengths are prohibited from propagation in a waveguide. In this way we can build compact, cost-effective, microwave filters.

Why is it important?

This is important because of the accompanied cost and size reduction in microwave devices.

Perspectives

My perspective about this publication is that it will help in the development of better and more compact microwave filters.
