What is it about?
A simple method is proposed to estimate the noise density in an impulse noise corrupted image. Using this density the method detects the corrupted pixels and the estimates the true pixel value to reduce the noise.

Why is it important?
Automatic noise density estimation. Accurate detection of noisy pixels. Approximate the true pixel value. High SNR
Perspectives
This is a very interesting and efficient method which may help in pre as well as post processing of any image processing task. It is a fully automatic method. It preserves edges and fine details and can handle noise up to 90% noise density.
