What is it about?

The proposed adaptive mean filter filter is very simple but fast in removing high density salt and pepper noise.

Why is it important?

Adaptive size filters often consume more time than fixed size filters but the adaptive size filters perform much better than the fixed size filters especially at higher noise densities. The proposed filter is adaptive but at the same time consumes much less time than existing adaptive filters producing better results.

Perspectives

It's happy to publish our work in IET image processing. Hope this article may be useful for those who research in this area and those in the industrial area creating software for digital cameras, to understand that a simple technique can produce more than sufficient performance in supressing salt and pepper noise.
