What is it about?

The proposed work aims at supervising the distance relay operation in a power system network using PMU information at few buses. The proposed index allows the distance relay operation for faulted condition and blocks it operation during stressed conditions.

Why is it important?

The proposed scheme is able to distinguish between faulted and stressed conditions hence making it dependable as well as secure. It requires very few PMU information to perform its task. Moreover, the response time is well within the required allotted time for the zone-3 operation.

Perspectives

The scheme is developed based on the necessity of fewer PMUs due to certain economic constraints. Moreover, the validation on RTDS platform has depicts its potential ability to perform in real-time environment.
