Transformer Inrush Current is a challenge for transformer protection. This makes transformer inrush current analysis very important. Therefore, Inrush Current is analyzed, here, and a new model is proposed which it is applicable for Inrush Current estimation.

Why is it important?
The new model and formulas are applicable to estimate inrush current at the first cycle after energization. This can be used in transformer protection. Using predictive formulas in transformer protection improves reliability and dependability of transformer protection compared to the existing methods.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also leads to a great involvement in transformer inrush current and transformer protection.
