What is it about?
There are various sources of uncertainties in distribution networks with high volatility which affect the placement of remote controlled switches in networks. The uncertainties can be translated to considerable financial risk. In this paper, we have shown for the first time that considering financial risk induced by uncertainties can totally change the optimal number and location of switches.

Why is it important?
Our finding results reveal that considering uncertainties and the induced financial risk can totally change the optimal solution of the switch placement problem in comparison with the previous placement models in which the financial risk has been ignored.
Perspectives
Uncertainty sources exist in almost every system. So, making decision based on the expected values does not make any sense. With this in mind, it is necessary to solve problems by considering the stochastic behavior of parameters in the systems in order to reach a more realistic solution. I hope that the achievements of this article help you in making the optimal and realistic solution in the problem of your interest area.
