What is it about?

The scheme is for protection of STATCOM compensated transmission line. This used two end synchronized measurement to calculated impedance. All type of severe and high resistance fault can be detected very accurately with this scheme.

Why is it important?

The protection of compensated transmission line is very important as it carries more power between corridors. The line outage can be a threat to power system stability and operation. Proposed scheme gives very accurate decision about faults for such critical line.

Perspectives

The presented scheme is highly novel and have superior features than other existing schemes. Easy in implementation, very accurate for severe as well as high resistance fault and have universal setting irrespective of compensation is present or not.
