Why is it important?

this paper presents a novel virtual synchronous generator (VSG) based multi-loop control solution aiming to manage the embedded inverter-based renewable distributed generators (DGs) in a plug-and-play and cost-effective fashion.

Perspectives

In respect to the future work, two research directions can be considered worth further research effort. As the control parameters can affect the control performance in reality, VSG solution with self-tuning parameters needs to be further exploited to improve the dynamic performance in various operational scenarios; also the presented VSG solution needs to be further studied in the context of AC/DC hybrid microgrids.
