What is it about?

The paper proposes a new method for optimal allocation of shunt capacitors in distribution network with renewable distributed generation units such as wind turbines and/or solar power plants. The proposed method, based on application of the Monte Carlo Simulation methods, respects the uncertainties associated with load demand and renewable sources power production.

Why is it important?

The present paper proposes a method for determination of optimum location and installed power of shunt capacitors in a distribution network comprising wind turbines (WTs) and solar power plants (SPPs). The method is applied to modelling the uncertainties in active load demand and renewable DGs active power productions. This paper presents the method of selecting the final compromise solution from the set of obtained solutions which the most adequate for the analyzed network
