What is it about?

This paper discusses the significance of energy efficiency in distribution systems. Energy efficiency nowadays is the burning issue and in general perspective it is discussed in terms of loss minimization, which is a single component in optimization function.

Why is it important?

Energy efficiency can be improved by replacing more energy efficient component if it is associated with a particular device. However, in distribution system's operation there are several components connected at load point. Maintaining the energy efficiency for each component is not possible because operational requirements may differ at the consumer's end. Therefore, power utilities need to be represented of each component while finding the energy efficient operation of distribution system, particularly when loads are found to be voltage dependent.
