It defines a method that can discriminate all the stages of diabetic retinopathy such as normal, mild NPDR, moderate NPDR, severe NPDR and PDR.

Why is it important?

Diabetic retinopathy is a vascular disease, caused by uncontrolled diabetes. It progression can lead to blindness, hence its early detection is necessary.
