What is it about?

Factors such as deep heterogeneity, multiple stakeholder's concern and application interdependency make the development of IoT application complex, time-consuming and challenging. Hence, the need for an IoT application development framework. This paper presents a comprehensive review and a comparative analysis of existing IoT application development frameworks and toolkits, illustrating their strengths and weaknesses and highlights future research directions to improve existing and future IoT application development frameworks.

Why is it important?

It is observed that majority of the frameworks focuses on the speed of developing IoT applications, ignoring the quality of the application during development. There is a need to integrate mechanisms in these frameworks to generate IoT application with high quality. In addition, dynamic detection and integration of heterogeneous devices/services and new technologies need to be investigated and implemented in these frameworks.

Perspectives

As my first written article, I find the process of writing it and getting it published a rewarding experience. I hope IoT enthusiasts, especially IoT software developers find this article interesting and valuable.
