What is it about?

This work offers a general platform to calculate the power consumed by the next 5G mobile networks. This can include cloud radio access networks power consumption and the effect of adding software defined networks on the power consumed.

Why is it important?

This work is important because it evaluates to which level the power of the next generation 5G networks architecture can be reduced. Furthermore, while gaining the benefits of adding SDN to C-RAN, this work gives and look up the power cost of such addition.

Perspectives

I think that this work can shape and provide the necessary power indicators to the network providers. If it is proved that the power consumption is reduced in the next generations, this eventually will be reflected to reduce the call cost per subscriber, same time increases the SP revenue.
