What is it about?

Instrument response functions (IRF) has an important effect on the measurement of lifetime. We proposed an innovative approach (using extended Kalman filters, EKF) to analyze the time-domain fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) data without knowing the instrument response functions.

Why is it important?

we applied EKF, for the first time to our knowledge, to simultaneously estimate fluorescence lifetimes and instrument response functions (IRF) for time-domain fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) systems

Perspectives

The findings should be able to bring benefits to fluorescence imaging microscopy society.
