What is it about?

A user-driven treadmill is a walking platform that is put into motion automatically by the action of a user. This work is about how can we control the speed of treadmill naturally.

Why is it important?

Plantar pressure potentially has a significant relationship with walking speed. A new walking speed estimation and treadmill control algorithm using plantar data, which is measured using wearable insole pressure sensors is proposed.

Perspectives

It could provide more interactivity and immersion into virtual-reality navigation, which stimulates the proprioceptive senses. Various applications are arising for treadmills, such as training, rehabilitation, and sports and entertainment fields.
