What is it about?
Besides the consideration of the frequency-response mismatch and aliasing error associated with sampling, the autocorrelation matrix of magnitude response is introduced to evaluate the performance of overlapping cancelation between the nearby subbands.

Why is it important?
a) It enhances the sample-rate and bandwidth of the A/D converters proportionally with the number of channels; b) It offers fine overlapping attenuation and mismatch compensation, thus improving the SNR of the converters; c) It allows utilizing low order analog filters for subband decomposition, thus making the bandwidth-interleaved architecture promising for integration into a chip.
