What is it about?

The paper proposes a color image processing by using histogram specification to enhance brightness, contrast, and color balance. The histogram is modeled by generalized extreme value distribution, which consists of three parameters: shape, scale, and location. The location parameter is used to control the brightness of each color band. The scale parameter is used to improve the dynamic range of each color band. Finally, the shape parameter is used to adjust tone of each color band.

Why is it important?

The parameters of generalized extreme value distribution are designed to control a color image, which could specify brightness, contrast, and color balance.
