What is it about?

An iterative detection is supported by extrinsic information from equalisers is proposed. The system performance involving extrinsic information from an opposite direction one-dimensional soft output Viterbi algorithm is examined as well. The work is applied to holographic data storage (HDS) systems.

Why is it important?

The simulation results show that the proposed model vastly improves the performance of the HDS systems under the effect of 2-D ISI and misregistration. This proposed solution can be applied to the channel with extremely severe ISI circumstances as well.

Perspectives

This work proposes an iterative detection supported by extrinsic information from equalisers. The proposed model can be applied easily by taking full advantage of useful information from the equalisers. This scheme is also applied for considering the effect of ISIs from all directions. The simulation results proved the proposed scheme effectively operated under the effects of severe ISI channels.
