What is it about?

A new three op-amp based circuit is presented which simulates a floating lossless inductor whose value can be varied through a single variable resistance. The circuit employs a grounded capacitor as preferred for IC implementation.

Why is it important?

It was demonstrated for the first time that three op-amp based simulation of a lossless floating inductor having the capability of providing a single-resistance controllable variable inductance is possible while employing a grounded capacitor.

Perspectives

It was shown how a 3-port lossless gyrator could be synthesised using three unity gain summing and difference amplifiers each of which was realised with a single opamp and four equal valued resistances.
