What is it about?

The PV array produces less output power under the partial shade conditions. Everyone is aware of it. We have shown a novel way to improve the output power using the reconfiguration concept. We have proposed an algorithm to find the best configuration of modules. Also, we have proposed a new switch matrix with reduced switch count to reconfigure the PV array.

Why is it important?

We validated this work through the experimental tests. Also, we have performed the simulations to compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with those reported in the literature. The financial viability of the proposed approach is also discussed. The proposed switch network is developed through the intelligent utilization of the multipole multi-throw relays. This network has less switch count compared to the conventional.

Perspectives

This article could be useful to first-timers in solar PV as it explains the basics of the reconfiguration concept and also to the researchers working in the reconfiguration area. Also, it explains the step-by-step working of the algorithm with an example illustration.
