What is it about?

Voltage quality is an important issue in power systems, especially in microgrids where power electronics-based distributed generation is dominant. We have shown for the first time that the Sliding Mode Control is designed and coordinated with Virtual Oscillator Control to compensate for both negative and zero sequence component of the voltage unbalance, as well as THD of the voltage harmonic.

Why is it important?

This is the first work that researches on the voltage distortion compensation for the VOC-based three-phase four-wire system.

Perspectives

I hope this article makes readers interesting in a new control technique for voltage source converter based distributed generation in island microgrid.
