What is it about?

The noise caused by the electromagnetic vibration of the stator is usually prevailing over the sources of mechanical and aerodynamic in PMSMs. In this work, an investigation into the mechanism of the sideband Vibro-acoustics is presented, where the analytical derivations of the sideband voltage and current harmonics are expressed, while the magnetic components of permanent magnet and armature reaction are also discussed in different carrier frequency domains.

Why is it important?

The permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive systems are increasingly used in the electric vehicles (EVs). As a parasitic effect, the wide-range acoustic noise is always concerned in the design and operation of PMSM. With the proposed investigation, a new route for the acoustics prediction and the precise optimization of PMSM.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long-standing collaborations. The editors and reviewers of this journal, with their excellent work, have contributed the best effect to the manuscript.
