What is it about?

Higher order modes are generated in the antenna. Antenna should operate in fundamental mode for best performance. In a dual frequency antenna with high frequency ratio, antenna at desired band 1 will have higher order modes at band 2 which will interfere with fundamental mode of antenna operating in Band 2. This can be addressed by putting a LPF in antenna operating at Band 1 so that there is no interference.

Why is it important?

To avoid any intereference and recieving any undesired signal. To replace need of two seperate antennas and save physical space To have simultaneous operation at two bands

Perspectives

I think this paper highlight and discussss the exostence of such a problem which has not been discussed in case of dual frequency antennas. Higher order mode suppression has been discussed in single band antennas.
