What is it about?
Plane detection is a fundamental process in many point-cloud applications like object extraction and recognition, augmented reality, 3D modelling, reverse engineering, camera calibration, and many other applications of the leading technology of laser scanning. The importance of plane detection lies in the fact that it is one of the main preliminary steps in those applications that significantly affect the quality of subsequent steps in the point-cloud processing because it is strongly dependent on the performance and validity of the segmentation results.
