What is it about?

Power systems are operated close to their stability limit which increases the probability of line being overloaded, and can lead to large blackouts. Having necessary tools to predict when a system is moving toward instability is of great interest. This paper proposed a new stability index to help track voltage stability while developing appropriate strategies to reduce the effect of measurement uncertainties.

Why is it important?

The work of the paper can be used as extra-screening tool by power system operators to help them taking appropriate actions to maintain power system safe and reliable.

Perspectives

The research studies and all the simulations that lead to this published article, have helped improve my knowledge about power system stability. The results found in this paper clearly demonstrate that the developed method can be used by power system operators to monitor voltage stability. I hope that this article makes more people want to learn about power system particularly in areas of research related to its stability.
