What is it about?

The paper presents a control scheme that adopts to a communication network interference with physical system control in cyber physical systems. It uses statistical modeling of network delay distribution to both detect abnormal situation (e.g. network congestion, malicious Denial-of Service attack), and then optimize control law to counter the negative effects of changed network delay.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that not only the optimal controller law reduces control effort (e.g. amount of energy used to control the physical system) but also it reduces physical system instability and increases convergence to the desired performance state.
