What is it about?

UAV are considered as an important part of 5G.they will be used to enhance the coverage and the rate performance of the communication networks. Such applications require efficient deployment model for setting up the communication between the UAVs and the ground station. In order to effectively deploy UAVs, modelling of radio-wave propagation channel is essential. the contribution of this paper is to present channel model for A2G.

Why is it important?

the contribution of this paper resides in several aspects: • An analytical propagation model of the link between UAV (Transmitter) and the End users (Receivers) is proposed • The model is based on the analysis of Ray-Tracing simulation results and knife edge diffraction theory. • It is presented as a function of UAV height and Elevation angle. • The model compared with the other models shows better results of standard error and confidence interval validation. • Base on the proposed model, the effects of changing the frequency and UAV height on Path Loss and probability of line of sight are discussed.
