What is it about?

In the mobile communication network, in order to better manage the user's location. The coverage area of the network is divided into tracking areas (TAs), and when the user moves in the TA, the location update operation is not performed. When the user moves out of the current TA, the location update is reported to the core network.

Why is it important?

Deploying a large number of cells cause the heavy signalling overhead for location tracking. Therefore, a TA planning strategy is needed to reconstruct the new TA planning effectively and further optimise the network signalling.

Perspectives

In the future, the proposed method will be performed for a detailed analysis of human mobility features that can affect TA planning in various deployment scenarios.
