What is it about?
A tripler, which has two overlaped locking range based on a dual band VCO, can cover a wide locking range under low power consumption.

Why is it important?
Using CMOS technology, the chip is designed to work in the microwave and millimeter wave frequency band, which is easily affected by process fluctuations. Therefore, the characteristics of a wider working bandwidth can help to realize the stability of the system.
Perspectives
There are many ways to expand the locking range of a frequency divider and/or a frequency multiplier, and methods based on high-order frequency characteristics are often used. But how to determine high-order frequency parameters and component parameters selection are still the focus of research.
