What is it about?
We described a simple method to detect the existence of fat particles in postoperative salvaged blood from patients undergoing orthopaedic knee surgery, and also we showed a simple method to eliminate it.

Why is it important?
The presence of some kind of biological rests in orthopaedic salvaged blood is well known. Developing an easy method to detect their presence and how to eliminate it might be relevant to clinical practice and patientes safety
Perspectives
This was the first step in a research line which was complemented with the analysis and detection of fat particles with differents blood cell counters, in order to facilitate to clinicians no matter which was the device available in their hospitals
