Using the Intelligibility in Context Scale with children who speak Jamaican Creole

What is it about?

This paper describes the validation of the Intelligibility in Context Scale (ICS; McLeod, Harrison, & McCormack, 2012a) and ICS–Jamaican Creole (ICS-JC; McLeod, Harrison, & McCormack, 2012b) in typically developing 3- to 6-year-old Jamaican children.

Why is it important?

Having valid and reliable tools to examine children's speech skills is important. Both tools show promising evidence of reliability and validity in describing speech intelligibility for Jamaican preschoolers.
