What is it about?

ZIF-67 has been modified by an in situ reaction with an all-inorganic coordination polymer (NiV10). Rhe modification gives rise to composite (NZ67) which benefits by unlocking of coordinatively unsaturated metal active sites (CUMAS), increased electrochemical surface area (ECSA), and improved charge transfer resistance, thus improving the electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction activity.

Why is it important?

A room temperature modification of ZIF-67 for improved electrocatalytic OER. No high temperature annealing has been employed. The inherent structure of ZIF-67 has been preserved. A dual modification has been achieved by reacting ZIF-67 with a single compound (NiV10), thus incorporating both Ni centers and decavanadate polyoxometalates in the ZIF-67 framework.
