What is it about?
In this study, kaolinite-poly(urea-formaldehyde) was successfully prepared through the polymerization of urea intercalated within the kaolinite structure. The polymerization was carried out under ambient conditions by simply immersing kaolinite-urea in formaldehyde. Improved properties and self-healing are observed for the composite relative to pristine poly(urea-formaldehyde). The synthesized product is usable in controlled released or adsorption process.

Why is it important?
The synthesized product is usable in controlled released or adsorption process. Kaolinite-poly(urea-formaldehyde) is reported here for the first time through an in-situ interlayer polymerization of urea in the kaolinite interlayer.
Perspectives
We entend to develop control release materials from this composites and also to take adavantage of its self-healing property for special adsoprtion process in aqueous media.
