What is it about?

This paper explores using the principles of molecular design to change the temperature at which molecular magnetic switch magnetic states.

Why is it important?

The paper shows that aromatic anions and halogen bonding can both be used to tune the switching temperatures of molecular magnetic materials. This is likely to be true for other magnetic materials.

Perspectives

We hope that this will encourage others to explore iron(III) spin crossover materials rather than the more common Fe(II) systems.
