What is it about?

Synthesis and investigation (X-ray analysis, electrochemistry, NMR, UV/vis and luminescence spectroscopy) of compounds in which oligothienyl (two and three thienyl, Th) rings are bonded to catenated Si and Ge fragments in terminal or internal manner, are studied in details.

Why is it important?

The first oligothienyl oligogermanes were obtained, the "structure-property" relationships were found (nature of the metal, number of the atoms and thienyl rings vs. optical properties).

Perspectives

These results are important for construction of optical devices.
