What is it about?
This paper reports a molecular magnetic switch that operates close to room temperature.

Why is it important?
In this piece of work we demonstrate for the first time how a change in the anion conformation can improve cooperativity in spin crossover systems. As the material is air-stable, contains no solvent in the lattice it makes an excellent candidate for future real world applications.
Perspectives
It's our hope that this work will encourage others to explore more versatile and complex anions to discover even more cooperative spin crossover switches.
