What is it about?

The physical properties of certain materials can be strongly influenced by organic solvents. In this work we explore their impact on the magnetic properties of a series of molecular materials.

Why is it important?

The study of solvent effects in spin crossover materials is not well explored and our study demonstrates that these effects can be much more significant than previously thought. We are also able to better understand the structure:function relationships that lead to these vast changes in magnetic behaviour.

Perspectives

Personally, I expect this paper to result in increased studies on solvent effects in so-called spin crossover materials. Given the changes we see, it's possible that other wider hystereses will be discovered.
