What is it about?
Dyes released from industrial sources can be extreme harmful, especially towards aquatic animals and plans. Chitosan, which is produced from second most abundant natural polymer, chitin, is promising adsorbent for removal of dyes from water. In this study, novel way to produce chitosan-based adsorbent was studied.

Why is it important?
Preparation of chitosan-based adsorbent usually request crosslinking or grafting with toxic, oil-based chemicals. Many crosslinking chemical also results in the production of chitosan with low adsorption capacity. In this study, efficient way to produce crosslinked chitosan with excellent adsorption capacity was demonstrated.
