What is it about?

Use of flexible linkers in coordination driven self-assembly of macrocycles that are have nano-scale dimesions. Interaction of metal containing organometallic linker with picric acid has been discussed.

Why is it important?

Flexible linkers are less predictable in self-assembly reactions as far as the shape of the final self-assembled ensemble is concerned. We have used flexible donor tectons to construct rectangular and oval shaped macrocycles
