What is it about?

Capacitor is an electric storage device with excellent charge / discharge response. In order to increase the energy density of the capacitor, we proposed a hybrid capacitor using a metal organic framework material as an electrode. To achieve this, we have developed a technique related to thick film electrode formation using self-organization. As a result, it became clear that the volume energy density is higher than the reported capacitor.

Why is it important?

We have succeeded in fabricating thick film electrode with high electrochemical activity which was difficult with organic electrode material.

Perspectives

We will open the door to research for high energy density for capacitors while taking advantage of the environmental harmony and sustainability characteristics of organic materials.
